Last Saturday we made a 3 hour trip down to visit my wife's sister, and while down there there was a loud pop and the window fell into the door. I was pissed, especially because we had a 2 month old baby in the back seat and a long drive ahead of us. Did I mention it was raining. Ford needs to fix this problem before they loose what's left of their reputation.

after googling my problem i found this site and realized.....This isnt my problem, This is FORD's problem, why havnt they recalled this. it really gets under my skin that you pay all this money for a vehicle and some crap like this happens. I'm talking about the chinsey little plastic peices use in the windows. i have rigged it by pulling it up, lodging paper wedges in between the rubber and the window, ensuring that the window "track was rolled up, then engadging the windows lock. I love everything else about the truck, but this is annoying and by reading all the other complaints, this is definately a Ford problem, this issue is worth a recall.

Within weeks of the warranty expiring the driver window fell into door. Our local dealer got it taken care of under warranty. Six months later the passenger front window fell out which we had to pay for. I understand that we can expect the back to fall out in the near future.

Also, the truck is missing at idle and I am afraid to have the plugs changed due to the problem with plugs breaking off in the head. It is not in the shop for clunking in the rear end which I expect to get very expensive. This truck is rated to tow 8700 pound. The only towing has been a jetski for a total of maybe 500 Ford F150 window problem, defect, claim, Ford F150 window regulator, recall, Ford F150 window  class action, problem, warranty, F150 window defect. My husband, son and I took the door apart and narrowed the problem down to a piece of plastic that secures the cable on the runner. The plastic has stressed and cracked leaving the cable loose. The motor works so we are using out noggins to try and figure out a way to shore up the plastic. My son is looking to fix it with Lego Bionicle parts. I'll let you know if it works!

Have owned Fords my whole life. No real complaints, until now. Bought my wife a beautiful 2004 Ford F-150 4 door Lariat. Have owned it 6 months and have replaced 3, yes thats 3, window regulators. The windows just fall down into the door. I am FED the F%#@ up with this. My local ford dealer basically told me to pound sand over it. By reading the other complaints this is a serious issue that Ford needs to address. I cant speak for everyone else but they are on the verge of loosing a customer over this!!!!!!

Since this appears to be a such a common problem I guess not much explanation is needed. I heard a loud pop as I was rolling up my driver's side window and the window dropped down into the door. Took it to the dealer and bent over. I will call Ford tomorrow and scream and holler.

Update from Jun 15, 2009: Ford offered to split the cost to replace the remaining three window regulators up to 60,000 Ford F150 window problem, defect, claim, Ford F150 window regulator, recall, Ford F150 window  class action, problem, warranty, F150 window defect or 6 years. Well this is finally my third window so i only have one more to go! All my windows except for my passenger have broke...i now have over 800 dollars in this ridiculous peace of sh*t. i fixed the first one myself but it was such a pain in the ass that i had ford do the other one...but for double the price of doing it myself i won't give them a chance to fix it again and rape me for even more money. im a diehard ford fan from my work truck to my daily driver all the way down to my streetrods. But this really gets me steamin when i walk out to the parking lot and my window is down... Really makes me think if i want another ford.

Rear window fell in to door when driving down the road at 35mph. Took it to auto glass shop and was told it was a faulty regulator and that I needed to take it to Ford dealer for repair. They also said this was a common problem with this truck and that it should have been recalled. Took it to the Ford dealer for repair and was told by mechanic that is was a common problem and the he too felt it should be a recall and that it could happen to all the other windows and there is nothing I can do to prevent it. He said he felt guilt every time someone came in with this problem and that Ford should take care of it.

2004 Supercrew 150. First the driver window regulator failed about two months ago, then last night the passenger rear failed. That rear window has been open probably less than 5 times in the life of the truck. Over $600 in the repair of two windows and Ford dealer acknowledges they are a problem. Then I find out there are spark plug problems where the plugs break off when the time comes to service them. Sad to say this will be my last Ford.

Well for the sake of having to file four complaints about all four windows I'll just list them here. In August of last year, 2008, my front passenger window on my Supercrew decided to slowly go down while driving on the highway. I hit the button to try and bring it up but all I heard was a crackling noise after having a mechanic diagnose the problem, $50.00, to the dealer I hurried to purchase a replacement window regulator. On May 4, 2009 the same thing happened again but this time I was at work. An employee came to my office and asked if I knew that my rear passenger window was down. I jumped up and went outside thinking I might have let it down by accident that morning while backing in to park, but when I tried to let it up all I heard was crackling again. I did not panic this time because I immediately knew what the problem was so off to the dealer to purchase another window regulator.

Well a couple of days ago, May 25, 2009 I go to get into my truck and proceeded to let the windows down and to my total disbelief, that freakin' crackling noise now coming from my rear drivers side window, again another window regulator gone out, so off to the dealers again. Well low and behold I go to get in my truck this morning and yes you got it the front drivers side window starts crackling. I sat there for a moment in utter disbelief fuming from every opening in my body. If someone else had told me this story I would not have believed them. I just got back from purchasing the 4th regulator completing the cycle of misery. My truck just turned over to 45000 Ford F150 window problem, defect, claim, Ford F150 window regulator, recall, Ford F150 window  class action, problem, warranty, F150 window defect and I am seriously scratching my head now about Ford vehicles. Not once, not twice, but the third time this has happened! Each time i was rolling up my window and it got to the top with a pop! After the second time around i started to wonder if fellow ford owners had ever had this problem. My spidey senses were right on, it seems to be one of the most common complaints with ford truck owners. I havent heard anything about ford owning up to the problem, only ways the common man can fix it themselves. Check out (FordF150.net) it breaks down the whole process in fixing the window regulator, its like a Chilton manual. As for any other help your all on your own, Ford has bigger problems these days!

Here is another one- Window fell down into door- I will repair myself - I registered complaint with Ford.com and my local dealer- Gray Ford in Deridder, Louisiana- My window did not break but I had to wait a week to get parts. Ford needs to recall these vehicals.

Yes i see that i'm not alone in the boat. it sounds like this is a problem, a common one in fact. Of course Ford will not cover....it's not a safety issue, but when a similar issue happened on my Volkswagen...even thought it was not a saftey issue they recalled it because it was very common and probable...for customer satisfaction. I hope that everyone checks this website and complains....I spent a lot of money on my vehicle, while those execs line their pocket the whole business is going down, and it's becuase of junk like this......you buy a high dollar item that breaks every year....

Just like everyone else here the window regulator broke at the plastic/nylon piece that the cable end connects to. The window was being rolled up and bang glass dropped got lucky in that I was at a stop and caught glass on way down and wedged a leather glove finger in to slow/keep it from dropping fast. Pulled the information from an online dealer for a regulator but the only after market at this time is for Heritage not Supercab. Of course did not find that out until I had all disassembled and on drive. Called many sources and finally was told only Dealer Part called dealer and was quoted $182 for the part they would install for 188 labor, NOT! found a dealer online in Branford, CT that would do 125 L and 110 R. Called Ford corporate and was given the brush off by a kid that should really go into politics, he told me to take it to the dealer and have an advisor check it out, DUH! the part is BROKEN wake up Ford. I figure if I have to repair all 4 windows with the same crummy part I will shell out about 1K for each in the next 6 or so years before I can look at another truck. Called local dealer back and he agreed to match the CT dealer so at least I can fix it today. And to think are to pay this one off in 2 months and were looking to buy a new Ford car for my wife. I think Ford had better get with this issue NOW!

Ford should put out a recall on this problem. I've talked to several f150 owners all have had this problem. I will fix it my self and post what the parts cost later. Its a lot of work just taking door apart so you can get window up and tape into place so you can drive while looking for parts.

Love my truck but very disappointed I had this problem as it is not that old and has fairly low mileage and after seeing how many others are dealing with the same issue, I'm very disappointed Ford hasn't stepped up to do more on such a common issue. Repair cost me $417 @ Sun State Ford in Orlando (they replaced the window regulator) which was a bit higher than others reported.

Started with a sudden loud popping sound, then window just slid inside the door.

Bad design on these regulators, way too complicated compared to previous years. My driver's side failed at 80k. I rolled window down and attempted to roll it back up when I heard a loud pop. The window slid into the door and I couldn't roll it up. My dealer charged 127 for a new regulator, some wanted over 200. It's an easy fix if you're "handy." This article covers how to replace the regulator (read the comments, others have improved upon the original article): http://www.fordf150.net/articles/idx.php/0/019/article/How-To-Repair-the-Power-Window-Regulator--Motor.html and here's a link to how to take the panels off: http://www.fordf150.net/photos/showgallery.php/cat/4232

Bought this truck used with no warranty. Within 1 year, 3 of the windows in my 2004 Ford F150 have slid down into the door with me being unable to roll it back up. The first two times it cost ~$350 each. I am now saving up money to fix it a third time.

This third time, it happened to a window that was fixed last year, making this the second occurrence for that window.

I am broke and driving around with a shower curtain wrapped around my car window in a red neck southern town! I cannot see out of that window! I can't afford to keep fixing this window with the economy the way it is and I'm out of a job! $1000 on windows in 1 year is a lot of BS money!

I was driving to work at 5 in the am, and my window started to go down all by itself. and then it fell completely. I tried to roll it back up and it wouldnt go up. It just made a crunching noise. I was pissed. The weather forcast was rain. So now i am even more mad.... and to top it off i had to let my truck sit in the busiest damn parking lot in town. So when i got home from work... i decided to to take my door panel off to see if the window fell off track or what happened. It was such a pain. i had to take everything from the door handle to the speaker off just to remove the panel.

This happened to be on a saturday, and the ford dealer was closed. So i had to go all the way until monday to even talk to someone. I called all the parts places in town, and no one sells the regulator for the year of my truck. So i called ford and they told me that just for the part it would be 254.00 and that didnt include labor. So now i am pissed. This should be a recall, and i am going to visit the safercar.gov website to see if there is a petition for this. At the moment i have my driver side panel and all my controls and everything still off becuase this is a pain in the ass, and ford should have to fix it. I have a piece of wood wedged up in the door to hold the window up, it looks a lot less ghetto than the bag i had to have for 3 days. Yes i am pissed, and i think you all need to go to www.safercar.gov and sign the petition.

Well it finally happened to me I've a been a loyal ford owner since I started driving. But now I pissed My wife drove my truck to work and called me and told me the drivers window fell in the door and shattered. Luckily she gets to park under a carport But she had to drive it home in the rain Boy was she pissed. I took the panel off of the door to see what the problem was and I found it. The cable that operates the window looked like a birds nest. So I go to web to figure out how to fix it and I'm not the only one. Looks like I've got three more to go. Class action I'm in. The regional service manger from Ford will be getting a phone call so will the local TV station. There always looking for a "good consumer getting ripped off" story.

I have owned many ford trucks, I thought Ford was built tought, like gum it breaks in the middle. I called the Company with no help then only told me it's not on recall I think every one on this site should make a point to send these complaints all at the same time to let them know how dam mad we are and how it would jam up the e-mails and make it inconvenent for them . Would they care most likely not but just think of the hassel. Fair is fair don't you think. Power windows are a safety matter and I can assure you I willl also send this complaint to the BBB and to the Goverment, OPPS!! should I do that considering the fact our comander and cheif did even no his plane was being used. SORRY!!!! couldn't help myself.

HOLD these company's responsable they would like our help with bail out money then help us to make it worth our time to think of helping them. I guess Ford would rather the window fall out of the dam truck and have some one hurt or cause a fatel reck and kill someone , them they came go to court with the lawyers they keep on retainer and fight against the very people who help pay there salaries. Look out Americans and I do mean Americans the plane is about to drop another load of crap on us. Stand up and fight send your complaints to you local goverment and to Washinghton DC the more they get the more possibllty they will get up off those cushionie seats and do somethhing. When my daughter and I came out of church I noticed the window was down. At first I thought I forgot to roll it up. However when I got in the truck and hit the button to roll it up, all I could hear was a crunching sound. I got home and took the panel off and could see I was _ _ _ _ _ _. I put a pair of vice grips on it until I could get it to the dealer. Once I got it to the dealer they said $240.00 dollars to fix it. I called a local part store and the said a regulator is $40.00 dollars. I purchased it and have yet to put it on. So I still have the vice grips hold my window up. This is the first Ford Ive owned and it will more then likely be my last.

F-150

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 Ford F150 window problem, defect, claim, Ford F150 window regulator, recall, Ford F150 window  class action, problem, warranty, F150 window defect

I parked the truck in front of the house after taking the dogs for a hike. A few days later I noticed the window was down. This seemed especially odd since it had been raining really hard ever since I used it last. I got in the truck to roll up the windows and all I get was a crunching sound. After searching the Internet for a while, I've found that this is a very common problem in these F-150's... VERY UNHAPPY! This sounds like a recall defect to me. I filed a complaint at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/
